#strawbale #strawbalebuilding updates from the strawbale addition project. We moved to this house almost two years ago. It was knowingly too small for our family, with V sleeping on the couch and me on a broken IKEA foldout in the twins room. But “room to grow” means space for dreams to take shape in the real world of our lives together. Space for values to shift from ideas to material transactions between neighbors, and soon 🤞 stones of foundation and straw of walls. This time hasn’t been easy, the pace, the setbacks, the logistical puzzles for V (our steadfast contractor), worried whether we’ll be able to afford finishing it. But small steps like yesterday, watching our friend bring in the timbers he milled from trees down the way, pull us forward with the knowing that the soft irregularities of the plaster walls and warmth of earthen floor beneath our feet will ease the nervous system flares (mostly lit by financial worries) of today. We’ll get there.
